Larry Wade
Larry Wade, chairman of the OU Board of Regents, died Sunday at the Integris Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was 72.

(via KFOR) OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An official of the University of Oklahoma says the chairman of the school’s Board of Regents, Larry Wade of Elk City, has died at the age of 72.
Catherine Bishop, OU vice president for public affairs, said Wade died early Sunday in Integris Baptist Medical Center at Oklahoma City. Bishop said she didn’t know the exact cause of death, but Wade had heart problems.
OU President David Boren said the state had lost one of its most dedicated citizen leaders. Boren said Wade’s first priority was more scholarships for students.
Dr. John Bell, vice chairman of the regents, said Wade was the ultimate OU fan.
Wade, publisher of the Elk City Daily News, was appointed to a seven-year term on the OU board in 2004, by then-Gov. Brad Henry.
Elk City could soon be the home of a new semi pro baseball team. Details are still coming. The team, “Elk City Wranglers”, would be part of the Southwestern States Baseball League and play at Ackley Field. Click the link for more information about the SSL.
2/20/2011 - Another Great Backyard Bird Count is in the books. Again this year I stood at our backdoor and counted all the birds.
